The Grand Hotel De La Minerve is housed in a six storey 17th
century building overlooking a cobbled piazza, this hotel is two
streets from the Pantheon and 500 metres from Piazza Venezia and
Piazza Navona. The 135 air-conditioned guestrooms are decorated
with a mix of modern and antique furnishings. All are equipped
with cable television, minibars, Internet connections, safes,
coffee makers, slippers, and complimentary newspapers. Marble
bathrooms include phones, combination tubs/showers and
bathrobes.
This ochre-coloured Renaissance building was originally
constructed in 1620 as an aristocratic residence, and has been a
hotel intermittently since the 1800s. During the 19th century, it
was particularly popular with German, French, and British artists
and intellectuals on the Grand Tour. A uniformed door attendant
greets guests as they enter the lobby, which extends into a
lounge with a stained-glass roof and a piano. La Cesta is a
fine-dining restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner
daily, characterised by silver ice buckets, polished wooden
floors and chandeliers. Guests visiting on business can make use
of four ground-floor conference rooms, the largest of which
doubles as a ballroom and can accommodate up to 120 people.
Large-scale catering can be arranged, and business services are
available at reception. Fitness enthusiasts can work out in the
hotel's health club. The multilingual concierge and 24-hour front
desk staff are on hand to offer round-the-clock room service,
exchange currency, and advise on local attractions and sights.
Guests interested in history will find the Pantheon two streets
from the hotel, the ancient ruins of the Forum within one
kilometre, and the Coliseum two kilometres away. Fiumicino
Airport is 30 kilometres away, with an approximate driving time
of 45 minutes.

The Airport train and taxi cabs (official ones are either
yellow or white) are available for transfer from the airport to
the centre of Rome. The Rome Underground system (the Metro)
connects the hotel with the rest of central Rome within 20
minutes. The station closest to the hotel is Spagna.Taxis and
Buses are also available.
Driving directions: From Fiumicino Airport, take the motorway
called G.R.A. following signs for Roma Centro. Take the Tiburtina
exit and continue following signs for Centro, then follow signs
for the Coliseum. At the Coliseum, follow signs towards Piazza
Venezia (next street). The hotel is located just behind that
square, on Piazza della Minerva.
