The romantic Hotel Barocco overlooks Rome's Piazza Barberini
Square, dominated by Bernini's baroque fountain of the sea god
Triton. The Barocco's enviable location is ideal for leisurely
strolls around the center of the Roman City. Guests can walk
easily to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the official
residence of Italy's president, and Trajan's Markets.
The intimate hotel is named after the architectural style that
inspired some of Rome's most breathtaking monuments and squares.
The hotel entrance is in Via della Purificazione, a quiet street
off the square. In the elegant foyer, guests will find sofas
covered in beige and orange-striped damask, Oriental rugs on the
floor, and trompe l'oeil scenes of classical Rome on the walls.
Soft floral materials in shades of red and blue, cherry wood
furnishings and marble dominate the hotel's interior, further
embellished by antique prints and 19th- century oil paintings
featuring floral compositions, landscapes and Turkish scenes.
Guests may peruse Franco Caruso's antique books bound in leather
and vellum, which he unearthed in bookstores across Italy
throughout the years.
In the small, yet well-stocked bar, guests can enjoy afternoon
tea, cocktails or aperitifs. The hotel's staff can direct guests
to the city's most unusual and interesting sights, exhibitions
and restaurants.
Each morning, perfumed essences are diffused in the 37
guestrooms, which also feature selections of seasonal fruits. In
the bathrooms, guests will find fresh flowers placed on the soft
white bathrobes. Some guestrooms open out onto balconies or
terraces with panoramic vistas of Piazza Barberini and Rome's
skyline of princely palaces and flower-filled terraces. The
air-conditioned rooms feature Internet access, satellite TVs,
safes, minibars and marble bathrooms with the bathrobes and
slippers.
The Hotel Barocco counts among its regulars business guests,
journalists and tourists from around the world who come to
discover the beauty of this ancient and romantic city.
